Getting students to paragraph (and learn about crocodiles!)

Students not using paragraphs can be one of the most frustrating things.  There’s nothing worse than opening an exam paper to see the student has written five pages without a single break.

I’ve been using this worksheet to get students to paragraph for years. I get about 200 printed at the start of the year because I know I’ll cover it with almost every class.

It shows students how frustrating it is to read the text without paragraphs,  how to collect facts together into paragraphs and how to order them sensibly to help the reader.

How do you get students to see their paragraphing errors?
